i agree with you....

there is MUCH MORE DIFFERENCE in her administration compared to those you
mentioned.

In Marcos time, a lot of people are victims of human rights violations and
so much people died because of bad politics. And the supreme ending of
these violence is the killing of Sen. Benigno Aquino, though it was not
proven that Marcos was the mastermind, people had had enough of him...
that's why EDSA 1 was a success. People just cannot take it
anymore....senseless killing too much corruption ...

i believed GMA is doing her best to really help the country and even without
the support of Cory Aquino she will be able to continue her terms .. I hope
so.... with respect to Cory Aquino.. she does not have her charms with the
people anymore... i believed this is attributed to her failure to please the
poor people of Hacienda Luisita.. and the decision of the goverment to
implement the Agrarian Reforms Law to Hacienda Luisita was the main reason
of her desmay with GMA thus withdrawing her support.... i think so....i used
to like Cory before but now i dont like her anymore..simply because she is
more of a problem now than a solution to the on-going problems of the
government...

positively speaking, i think GMA is really intelligent and she is the best
person right now to really handle the goverment inspite of so many treats to
her administration...imagine.. if she is not intelligent & really know the
law of the land.. she would have not last this long since she is surrounded
by vultures of politicians. Joseph Estrada did not last long simply because
he is the dumbest president ever the Philippines had, he just cannot accept
the fact he is best to remain as an actor. I hope people to the Republic
will someday realise that it takes more thant acting to really run the
country as President.

these are just my own opinions... May God Bless the Philippines inspite of
what her people is doing in their day to day lives....

I think one of the reasons why people power will not work this time is
that the leaders do not offer a workable alternative. What can a
military/civilian junta offer the Philippines? Unlike EDSA 1 and 2,
the opposition does not a have a clear plan, which is scary. For that
matter, they don't even have a clear leader which is even scarier.

I believe that GMA, (unlike Marcos or Estrada) is concious of how
history will regard her. That is why she is trying her damndest to
stay in power. She truly wants to be regarded as a good leader and she
knows we have run out of alternatives. (Raul Rocco would have been my
bet but he is dead - He was a good man. May he rest in peace)

She needs time to put in place reforms and institutions that will help
the country prosper. As an economist, she know she has to take the
middle line approach. Not to too extreme and not too soft either.

As far as I can see GMA is doing the best she can with the cards that
she was dealt. All these power grabs just make her job harder. I
wonder if she wakes up at night and regrets ever taking on the job of
the President of the RP?
