You are right. The previous constitution elected a president every 4
years. And each president may run for re-election once. The reason
they said was that 6 years is too long for a bad president but too
short for a good one.
This was changed to the current 6 year one time term because the
president should not be concerned about re-election as it distracts
from the duties of the office.
What do others think about this?
If a President is to much distracted by re election, it is not a good
president. A good president will be judged by past performances, not future
promises. That's how it should work.
