Understandable - it contains lots of things any Filipino might connect with.
To name a few:

- having lots os children
- mother is doing everything to support the family
- everything is shared fairly
- the eldest brother (kuya) has to play the father role
- one kid is gay
- group pressure on boys towards circumcision
- girls want to have a fancy debut
- intensive prayer and asking God's help

There are many more, these were just the first ones I can name from the top
of my head.

There are a great number of single women with children of my generation in the Philippines. It is sad, without any real guidance and hormones acting up together with lack of real benefit of birth control.
