SEA Games: Philippines leads in medal tally on day two of competition

MANILA : The Philippines took the early lead in the race for medals on the
second day of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games being held in various cities in
the Philippines.

As at 10pm on Monday, the Philippines won 23 gold, 10 silver, 15 bronze
medals.

Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,
Singapore, Thailand, East Timor and Vietnam will compete for 441 gold medals
in 41 events in the Games, which will last till December 5.

Events at the Games range from athletics, football, gymnastics, martial arts
like karate, muay Thai-boxing and the Philippine stick-fighting art of arnis
to snooker and ballroom dancing

Vietnam has 14 gold, 11 silver, 15 bronze medals while Thailand has seven
gold, 12 silver, 17 bronze medals.
Malaysia is in fourth position with seven gold, 10 silver, eight bronze
medals, followed by Indonesia with six gold, nine silver and nine bronze
medals.

Singapore is in sixth position with two gold, three silver and six bronze
medals, followed by Myanmar with one gold, four silvers and five bronzes. -
