Fw: Alay sa Bansa (ALAB)

Alay sa Bansa (ALAB)

ALAB aims to encourage the formation of communities that will provide hope
and nurture love among our people and in our country. The main work of ALAB
is youth development through three main areas:

Sports Development with the LEAD Institute of Sport - which
assists in the training
and development of the Filipino champion in football, taekwondo,
and badminton
in order to excel in international competitions and thus bring
pride to our people
and our country, and also encourage the young to engage in and
strive to excel in
these sports. LEAD is also partnering with NCACL and ODF for leadership
formation sessions through the values of sports.

Teacher Formation with the Center for Educational Research and
Development
(CERD) and One Dream Foundation (ODF) - which forms elementary and secondary
teachers to view teaching as a vocation and thus become good formators of
the youth; this will also enable ALAB and CERD to assist communities to open
more quality elementary and secondary schools nationwide.

Youth Leadership Development with the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Center for
Leadership (NCACL), Katotohanan Foundation, LEAD, and ODF - which forms
youth leaders into servant-leaders with a strong sense of mission to bring
hope and love into the life of our people and our country.

ALAB is also embarking on a nationwide youth conversations of hope to come
up with an "agenda of hope and love." These conversations are composed
mainly of youth leaders, but will also include adult members of the
community.

ALAB's fundraising arm is ALAB Fund, which is an annual fund to help in the
operating expenses of the programs supported by ALAB.

Youth Conversations of Hope
in partnership with ODF, LEAD, Katotohanan, IMLL, and CERD

This 1-day gathering aims to get local groups to express their reading
of/views on the current situation in specific areas, classified as:
over-all: political, good governance, peace & order, economic, and education
and social services. From these descriptions of the situation, the groups
will draw do-able action plans that will make a difference in their
communities or sphere of influence and implement these plans. These groups
will also be made to form a network. The overall goal of this effort is to
slowly generate hope for communities and, eventually, the larger society
through a sense of empowerment by being able to make a difference for the
better in one's community or sphere of influence.

This effort will also be coupled with an effort to sustain these groups as a
venue for discussion and a possible source of positive action for hope. It
is also an effort to assist in the development of the leadership of the
youth of the communities, since the composition of each conversation is for
a maximum of 70 participants, minimum of 40, at least 60% should be 18 to 35
years old and 40% 36 years old and above.

The schedule for the conversations is as follows:
