Re: Truth is Arroyo won

>This has basically crippled the Legislature's "investigations in aid of destabilization".

Last I heard, this was still a democratic country. Whether the Senators
are agents of destabilization or not, they still have the
constitutional right to perform "investigations in aid of legislation."
And the gag order is in essence the executive branch's obstructionist
action on the legislature. The Legislature is a co-equal branch of our
government, thus the Executive branch's actions are an infringement of
the right of the legislature.

>This just verified what majority of the population already know: that Philippine media is way too negative. This has prompted media
organizations to take a second look at themselves. Of course, there are
still some who would cry foul.

Media's role is to tell the truth without fear or favor. If the news
are all negative, is it the fault of media or the fault of those
causing the negative news? After her "bad boy" media rant, I haven't
seen any major news paper print someting to the effect that made them
take a second look at themselves. What I see is an almost unamimous
reaction that the president telling media what to print is similar to
suppressing the freedom of the press.

>Just imagine if the "investigations in aid of destabilization" pushed through?

The president has enough allies in the senate to protect her. The
problem is her mismanaging events.

>Just imagine if media just continue unopposed with its negativity frenzy? That would definitely make her look worse in the eyes of the populace.

It's her actions that have caused the negative news. Had she not talked
to a comelec official, would there be a Garci tape? Had she not issued
a gag order on generals, would the public be in an uproar at what seems
to be suppression of facts? Had she not spoken of the "bad boy" media
tag, the media wouldn't have gone out and attacked her ranting as
suppression of the freedom of the press.
