Right on Rose! Beauty is only skin deep often beautiful girls realize
the power their beauty gives where as a not so preaty lady is perhaps
more likely to be happy with what she has got in the way of husband,
family etc. 

As you say charming traits other than beauty are what foreigners may
be looking for. The men of some countries prize really fat ladiies
where as to many white people they are repulsive, beauty is indeed in
the eye of the beholder.
