General Jovito Palparan. University of the East Advanced R.O.T.C. 1971. Has held major combat troop commands in Mindanao and other hot spots throughout his career, the last being Commander of Philippine contingent to Coalition Forces Iraq. He has kicked PMAers' ass throughout his career too and that can drag him down. The guy is straight as an arrow as evidenced by his investigated but unchallenged Official Statement of Assets & Liabilities. He is hard as all military commanders should be. He has been accused of everything except crimes involving personal integrity. He has not been found guilty of anything. He will be Chief of the Army and then Chief of Staff. A good Knight.
Sorry dirty pig, plenty of good and bad military in the Philippines have taken up the sword to "protect" whether it is right or wrong only history can tell.
The "sword" you're talking about is in the hands of PMA (and foreign service academy) ringknockers. Mustangs like Palparan are usually the sacrificial goats. This guy (UE ROTC, of all things!!!!) survived and flourished in a very closed society hostile to him. That can only mean the ringknockers can't find any dirt on him. It's his only parachute, plus the support of other mustangs. That guy did not have a good time in his career but he soldiered on.
Teofisto Guingona was UST ROTC. He never got the chance to advance within the military due to the ringknocker situation.
Palparan is made of tougher stuff. You're just paraphrasing his bad press which is purely SPECULATIVE and started soon after he put on his first star and never let up. A ringknocker, unless they do something spectacularly bad like in the AFP comptrollership, will never get bad press (ringknockers all over RP media).
The real "sword" in the AFP is the PMA Protective Association. My father should know, he was from FEATI AFROTC and got his regular second camote's "triangulos" from PAF Flying School. PAFFS grads are considered ringknockers too (to a slightly lesser degree) despite their bachelor degrees being obtained from civilian institutions. They are the only class of AFP officers who live in both the ringknocker and mustang worlds, and equally accepted by both.
But this is the way it is in the Philippines where due process is reserved only for the wealthy and powerful, if you don't belong, you get killed without the benefit of due process (need I explain!).
Guilty until proven innocent? Poor general!
As you and I wanted due process for GMA, the response for her "enemies" has been brutal. Yes, the way Rose wanted it to be.
Are you factoring in the brutality GMA has to endure daily?
Anakpawis had been identified as a communist backed organization, this is enough for some members of the military to delete them from the human race.
Maybe, but to blame Palparan without proof except "the same thing happened wherever he was" is what? An exception to the rule?
Is this a good thing? I don't think so, a rubout without due process is criminal in every respect.
Rubouts can never be due process nor non-criminal. Anyway, rubouts happen all over the country, but do you see the press crucifying the area military commanders like they are doing with Palparan? All the guy did was go to the wrong school and officer accession program!
