Veteran promoter of US genocide against Cuban children, cowardly hypocrite PL snips and runs away ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY-SEVEN TIMES!!

For over ten years now, PL (aka Mr.Lobbyist) has been actively
promoting US trade sanctions that, among things, systematically and
for purely political purposes deprive Cuban children of food, and life-
saving drugs and medical supplies.

The facts as documented in reports recently released by Amnesty
International (my emphasis):

March 2009

"Amnesty International urges the US government to lift the nearly five-
decade long economic and trade embargo against Cuba as it is
detrimental to the fulfillment of the economic and social rights of
the Cuban people. It OBSTRUCTS AND CONSTRAINS efforts by the Cuban
government to purchase essential medicines, medical equipment and
supplies, food and agricultural products, construction materials and
access to new technologies.

September 2009

"The US embargo against Cuba is IMMORAL and should be lifted. It’s
preventing millions of Cubans from benefiting from vital medicines and
medical equipment essential for their health."

"Because of the US embargo, Cuba faces SEVERE RESTRICTIONS in
importing medicines, medical equipment or technologies from the USA or
from any US company abroad. The sanctions also limit other imports to
the island and restrict travel and the transfer of money."

http://www.amnesty.org/en/news-and-updates/report/president-obama-should-take-lead-lifting-embargo-against-cuba-20090902

"Amnesty International calls on the US Congress to take, WITHOUT
FURTHER DELAY, the necessary steps towards lifting the economic,
financial and trade embargo against Cuba...

"The UN General Assembly has repeatedly CONDEMNED the US embargo as
contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
On 29 October 2008 the UN General Assembly passed a resolution
reiterating for the 17th time its call on the USA to end its embargo
against Cuba. That resolution was adopted with 185 votes in favour,
three against and two abstentions. The Inter-American Commission on
Human Rights has also reiterated its position regarding “the impact of
such sanctions on the human rights of the Cuban people and, therefore,
INSISTS THAT THE EMBARGO BE LIFTED.”

“The RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY THE EMBARGO help to deprive Cuba of vital
access to medicines, new scientific and medical technology, food,
chemical water treatment and electricity.”

"The provision of health care has suffered from the LIMITATIONS AND
RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY THE EMBARGO on the procurement of basic and
specialized medical equipment and chemical components needed for the
production of generic medicines....

"Cuba was UNABLE TO IMPORT nutritional products destined for children
and for consumption at schools, hospitals and day care centres. This
had an adverse effect on the health and nutritional status of the
population.

"Children’s health was also put at risk by a decision from syringe
suppliers to CANCEL an order for 3 million disposable syringes by
UNICEF’s Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization when it became
known that the units were destined for the implementation of the
programme in Cuba.

"The number of children suffering from heart conditions who are
waiting for appropriate treatment at a pediatric hospital has
increased after Cuba was unable to buy from the US-based companies the
necessary medical equipment for their treatment. The companies
allegedly refused to negotiate with Cuba because of the RESTRICTIONS
SET BY THE US EMBARGO.

"LACK OF ACCESS to products manufactured by United States
companies such as St. Jude Medical, Boston Scientific and Amplatzer
prevents the provision of proper care to seriously ill patients who
need a pacemaker, St. Jude prosthetic valves or septal occluders,
forcing their treatment with alternative, riskier surgical techniques.

"It has been IMPOSSIBLE TO PURCHASE a positron emission tomography/
computerized tomography (PET/CT) scanner, a state-of-the-art piece of
medical equipment needed for treatment that is made by only three
manufacturers worldwide, all unauthorized to negotiate with Cuba."

Note that Article 2c of the UN Genocide Convention states that the
crime of genocide includes, among other things, "deliberately
inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about
its physical destruction in whole or in part."
http://www2.ohchr.org/english/law/genocide.htm

Since, as Amnesty International has reported, “The restrictions
imposed by the embargo help to deprive Cuba of vital access to
medicines, new scientific and medical technology, food, chemical water
treatment and electricity,” these cruel sanctions can, therefore, even
be seen as a form of genocide under international law!

While Amnesty has stopped short of calling for the arrest and bringing
to trial of the perpetrators of these crimes, they do summon the
courage to call these cruel sanctions "immoral" and to demand that
they be lifted "without further delay." The UN, the OAS and the
Catholic Church have all similarly condemned them on humanitarian
grounds and called on the US to lift these sanctions immediately.

******************

What has been the response of PL? Mostly, he snips and run away in
terror. Or in the finest tradition of his great hero, Joseph Goebbels,
he denies everything and blames the victim. He says Amnesty is lying.
He says these abuses by his political masters are just, ahem...
unintended "exceptions to rule."

His beloved embargo is blameless. PL denies AI's claim that these
cruel sanctions of his are "immoral." He also denies their claim that,
“The restrictions imposed by the embargo help to deprive Cuba of vital
access to medicines, new scientific and medical technology, food,
chemical water treatment and electricity,” LIES, ALL LIES!!! Right,
Mr. Lobbyist?

PL will also post one article after another on the Cuba's current
economic woes that supposedly "prove" the Cubans couldn't they
couldn't afford the stuff in the first place! Or he cites statistics
that show that the US supplies as much as 27% of Cuban food imports --
as if the death of one person could somehow be "canceled out" by
feeding another! These "arguments" are nothing new, of course. For
years, they have used to rationalize what can only be seen by decent
people as a form of genocide. Much to the chagrin of PL and his
political masters, the international community has clearly not bought
into these self-serving lies and Nazi-style rationalizations.

***********************

In an effort to pin down the ever-evasive PL, I have repeatedly posed
the following simple, straightforward questions that no decent person
would hesitate to answer. PL, however, he snipped and run away from
them in terror ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY-SEVEN TIMES NOW!!!

1. In these statements (above), Amnesty International
(a) expresses support for the US embargo
(b) is neutral on the issue of the US embargo
(c) condemns the US embargo

2. It is apparent from these statements that Amnesty International
(a) would support the indefinite extension of the US embargo
(b) would support the extension of the US embargo as a temporary
measure
(c) would NOT support the extension of US embargo even as a temporary
measure

3. In general, international trade sanctions which block or limit a
nation's access to food and essential medicines are
(a) never genocide
(b) sometimes not genocide
(c) always genocide.

4. Do you deny that your beloved embargo, as AI reported, is used to
obstruct and constrain Cuba's access to food and essential medicine?

5, Do you deny that trade sanctions which obstruct and constrain a
nation's access to food and essential medicine are a form of
genocide?

6. Can you honestly state that AI would indefinitely support these
cruel and inhumane sanctions of yours until certain "changes" are
introduced in Cuba?

****************************
Mr. Lobbyist,

You can try to snip and run away again. In fact, I am certain you
will, because you are, above all, a coward and a hypocrite. You can
try to change the subject, attack me, attack the Cuba government --
anything to avoid facing up to the crimes of your political masters!
Unfortunately for you, everyone can now see that you are simply trying
to divert readers' attention from your TRUE political agenda here. And
it has absolutely NOTHING to do with human rights, does it?

Again, it is time to be a man for once. Enough of your cowardly,
hypocritical snip-and-run tactics. Enough of your lies and evasive
non-
answers. Stand up for what you REALLY believe and just answer these
questions.
