HAVANA, 30 August 2006 / J. Press Int. / -- From his hospital bed
Prime Minister Fidel Castro has protected Cuba from the potential
ravages of Hurricane Ernesto, according to Cuba's Politburo President,
Ricardo Alarcon.
Fidel transformed the latest Atlantic weather disturbance, hurricane
Ernesto, into a mild tropical storm by invoking the transcendental
link to his long-gone comrade Ernesto "Che" Guevara, explained Mr.
Alarcon. He would elaborate no further on the particulars of the
mechanism employed by Mr. Castro, citing Cuba's right to protect state
secrets.
Mr. Castro, angered by the storm's name, which he said demeaned the
memory of his Argentinean comrade, pointed an accusing finger at the
United States: "Imperialist meteorologists once again have attempted
cast another figure of the Revolution in a bad light". Interrupted by
a visit from his attending physician, Mr. Castro indicated that not
even natural phenomena will be able to harm Cubans, as long as he is
around to protect them.
Raul Castro, the Prime Minister's brother and acting commander in
chief, praised his brother for the heroic effort, noting this latest
development once again shows that Fidel still has the power to protect
Cubans from all ills.
