Mr. Castro and John Lennon

Please forgive my ignorence in not knowing Spanish, no ones perfect
after all.

A friend of mine recently told me that there was a statue of John
Lennon sitting on a bench somewhere in Cuba. He also said that Mr.
Castro had commisioned this art.

Is this true and does anyone know the motivation behind the commision?
