Re: "New Accounts of Torture by U.S. Troops" (Human Rights Watch)

PL states "they [the Cubans] still were able to puposely construct
punishment cells and trade centers[,] I see." Yet, the very article HE
selected as "proof" has information about a "trade center" being
constructed -- as Conrad's Kurtz would exclaim, "The Horror! The
Horror!" -- and NO "punishment cells" being constructed there in
Miramar or anywhere else.

Cuba does engage (and plans to continue to engage) in arranging joint
or contracted construction projects with foreign entities -- especially
for trade and tourist facilities, and (based on all the articles in
Gramna) makes no secret about that.

A side note: "Real estate business" is a rather inaccurate term, for
under capitalism, real estate IS a business and commodity in which
transactions (from construction to buying, selling, and trading) are
done by PRIVATE individuals or entities with the goal of realizing a
(PRIVATE) PROFIT. Cuba, through the agricultural reform and INRA,
distributed -- NOT SOLD -- land to the peasants. In Cuba, FORECLOSURE
is not even the statutory vocabulary -- 85% of Cuban households own
their dwellings and, UNLIKE the capitalist countries, CANNOT be evicted
(nor lose their farms) because of failure to pay rent on time.
