How do you know there was no dig? And even if there wasn't, do you
know enough about archeology to say with certainty that one cannot
write thesis without going on a dig? There's far more to archeology
than simply digging up ruins.
At any rate, you've certainly illustrated that he was right in not
going into much detail about his work on scc ;-)
PhD is awarded for "original work". There is no "original work"
without the dig in archeology..
1) How do you know there was no dig?
2) There is more to archeology than the dig. There are other
opportunities for original work besides digging up stuff.
