There is BIG difference between you and me. I can read Chinese
newspapers like World Journal (most popular Chinese newspaper in the
states) and Taiwan's or even China's newspapers online but you can
not. Therefore, your knowledge on China and Taiwan is very limited
because NYT, CNN etc do not report Chinese politics in details. As a
result, one (YOU) shows ignorance like a well frog thinking the world
is just the size of his well and one (myself, LT Lee, J Venning etc)
show good knowledge on Chinese matters.

Nah, if "Taiwan's political fate is not important enough for anyone to
care" as you said here, then why can PRC leave us alone??? In fact,
it's core issue for China-PRC relation and it's so important for China
so it has to aim its 900 missiles to a tiny island called "Taiwan".
Haha!

Dont know... I only read SCC regularly.
It is interesting to note that newsgroups in China do not spend their
time bashing Taiwan the way newsgroups outside China bash China.
J.
The fact remains Taiwan's political fate is not important enough for
anyone to care. Taiwan is good only for providing an occasional
excuse for neocon types to take a swing at China. The Chinese
government would rather ignore these provocations except to keep
silent sends the wrong signal. So China makes the usual protest
(nothing new in substance) and leave it at that.
When someone says "F**K You" to a Canadian the response is "Same to
You." I think this an excellent riposte as it is a quick and
excellent response without having to sink down to the vulgarity of or
having to out vulgar the swearer. China's response is similar as in
"I heard you but I am not interested."
Does a threat of TI from CSB make Taiwan's stock market hiccup? Does
anyone in Taiwan rush to the grocery store to stock up on food? Does
it even merit a lunchtime discussion among office colleagues? Do you
discuss it with your family member? If none of the above happens in
Taiwan why woud anyone outside Taiwan care? CSB's TI threats rarely
gets reported in my newspapers or on TV. How about in Taiwan? Is it
a headline story or something buried deep inside a "slow news day"
page?
You are asking a wrong person, PaPaPend. abeenchum and his family
live in New York City. He gets the same info you and I get on the
daily newspaper about Taiwan.- Hide quoted text -
