PengPengPeng,
are you sure they are not NEGATIVE and POSITIVE for yin and yang?
After a few years I spent in studying zhouyi, I read my higher math
text book again and I found that the China and Chinese Pig race would
be ruined due to their method to calculate interest rate. That is
true. But I will not tell you now.

It is action and reaction in science.
Take a neutral path, then you see many pairs of action and
reaction.
Light is in opposite of darkness, east is in opposite of west, high
is
in opposite of low, long is opposite short etc. In visible world,
things work in pairs. It is also something like the cause and
effect
in Buddhism.
So if there is too much or too little of something, that is yang or
yin. You must take the correct path in between excess and deficiency
in a way which takes into account the interconnectedness of things
and
the details of the situation. You cannot separate the cause from the
effect in practise, that is just a way of talking. In practise you
must take the world in all its complexity and find the balance: the
one and only healthy natural moral way to live in harmony with the
world at large and in harmony with your own true nature.
The best exposition of Yin and Yang was by Iolaus in Hercules
[WIKI: Set in a fantasy version of ancient Greece not precisely
located in historic time, the show starred Kevin Sorbo as Hercules and
regularly featured Michael Hurst as his sidekick Iolaus. ]
In one episode with a pretentious sage a frustrated Iolaus cried
"Yeah, yeah I know. ...." and he rattled off a series of opposites in
the best yinyang tradition. I was laughing too hard to remember more.
The usual collection of scantily clad examples of ample womanhood
didn't help.
