The return on investments fror US treasury paper is peanuts. But
bthere is nowhere else to park several hundred billions (USD !.22
trillion currently and growing).

What China should do is to convert them into tangible assets. Buy
into American stocks of their biggest companies - the banks, the
financial institutions, Buy property. There are lots of rust belt
zones with gutted neighborhoods. Buy several neighborhoods,
especially those with riverfronts and develope them into full service
gated communities with its own commercial offices, parks, schools,
grocery stores, security personnel, etc. China has alreafdy done this
in China with great success. Buy into their defense contractors.
Hold enough votes to have a voice in their governance. Invest in
building oil refineries in the US. There is insufficient refining
capacity in the US and an oil refinery or two will be guaranteed money
makers. China is buying upstream oil production from nay countries,
more than is likely to be used by China herself. An investment in
refining and oil production in the US will be very profitable as well
as present the US a dilemma on how to compete with China
internationally in this strategic resource.
