foreign brand names
Chinese consumer confidence in products with foreign brand names is on
the wane as a result of frequent media reports about the allegedly
shabby quality of goods produced by prominent global companies
including McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Nestle and Sony. - Robert Hartmann.

I had never been faddish on brand names. If something serves my
purpose and its the cheapest I'm sold. I do of course get to use
brand name goods but have never found them compelling (ie much better)
enough to change my usage. Very probably many in China have come to
the same conclusion too.
