Well, now is the time to take a chance to make a fortune in China.
This is the latest article among many that admits America's inability
to deal with China's rise as a global economic and political
competitor. But then neither can the EU, India or a number of other
countries. However what is the alternative? A subservient China
that waits for the US and the former imperial powers (white guys) to
tell her what to do everytime she (China) spots an opportunity?
Obviously not. It is equally obvious the West's current economic
model no longer works. Neither has US foreign policy that has caused
her own (American) people to be divided and at odds with themselves,
alienated her natural allies, made enemies of 1.2 billion Muslims and
caused other countries to distance themselves from American
initiatives.
Attributing China's success to sneakyness, cheating and other
underhand methods misses the real causes on the lack of
competitiveness on the part of the US-EU, namely the cost of labor in
the West is overpriced and that of China (and India et al) is
underpriced. The solution is to get these inputs to a more equal
level. The immediate consequence will be a lowering of living
standards for the West and a concurrent rise for the "poor" China (and
India). We know where that will lead. So authors like Larry Wortzel
will keep writing alarmist articles about China (and India) not
playing fair. The global standard of living adjustments will happen
any way, but the West will be too slow to adjust their response to
this trend. The big problem may be the West (aka US) may make the
mistake of adopting a military solution for s socio-economic
phenomenon.
