Do not make yourself become confusing, you better take only one first
and after you improve and able to communicate, you can step your other
step to learn Cantonese. Honestly, there are many people speak
Cantonese then mandarin. In UK, Canana, Australia, US, Malaysia,
Vietnam, NZ, etc, most of the population are used Cantonese they never
use mandarin. As what I said, if you go and study Chinese in the place
there are no one speak English, somehow you feel very difficult to
understand and get a good explanation for some difficult word they have
said to you. Due to the majority of Chinese living in the CIty, like in
Singapore, and Malaysia there all speak mandarin.

But if you want to do business in China you'd better learn Mandarin.
Anyone who is learning Chinese now should not bother with Cantonese.

Don't learn Chinese in a place where they speak English. You'll learn
much slower because you'll always use English as a crutch. Throw away
the crutch and you'll learn faster, e.g. go to a place where they only
speak Mandarin.
