I have no doubt that the Chinese government imposes certain censorship
on the Chinese people's use of the Internet - in fact I personally hope
so. Every country in the world has its own criteria of what is to be
allowed and what is not to be allowed on cyber space traffic and daily
life within their national boundaries.

The implication that China's restrictions on freedom are similar to that
of other countries is nonsense, and you either know that (in which case
you are being dishonest) or you don't (in which case you are ignorant )

Do have the decency of reading what I wrote carefully before launching an
attack on me. I wrote "Every country in the world has its own criteria of
what is to be allowed and what is not to be allowed on cyber space traffic
and daily life within their national boundaries". Does that constitute
your accusation of my implying "that China's restrictions on freedom are
similar to that of other countries"?

Are you now acknowledging that the restraints on free speech in the PRC are
qualitatively more heavy than most countries in Asia, let alone the world? If
you wish a quantitative report, look at the Reporters without Borders
website. The PRC is worse than Vietnam, and is number 162 on their index.
Only 5 countries are ranked lower.
If ignorance is your excuse try Reporters without Borders (who
incidentally supported your and my views that Malaysia is not a free
country).

You use the adjectives "ignorance" and "lying" a trifle too freely.

Stop acting stupid and/or lying and I will not need those terms.

China is a old civilization and the degree of repression of freedom of
speech under the communists is much worse than it was under the KMT or
the Emperors.

China is a relatively infantile civilisation as far as its grasping the
concepts of Western Democracy is concerned. Even you can see that. J.

Well no. Your knowledge of things Chinese is *infantile*, but no, the Chinese
culture is not. Except for a relatively short period, say 1600 to the
present, China has been the most advanced culture in the world for the last
several millennium.

China is an advanced civilization with deep understandings of all sorts of
things. Communism is a western concept after all, and imposing it on China
has been a disaster of enormous proportions.

The Constitution of the Republic of China (established in 1911 and overthrown
by Mao) was more advanced democratically than the American at the same time.
For example, women were given the right to vote.

The totalitarian ideas of Maoist communism came from the West and were
imposed on China, taking it backward as far as democracy was concerned.
