Land seizures in China leave victims homeless
You mean American-style eminent domain abuse happens in
China too?
It is interesting that Charles Liu is commenting on eminent
domain abuse, since he has business interests in Shenzhen
province. Charles has commented in the past that he tours
"factories" and recommends they add "fans." Do eminent domain
issues in China impact Charles Liu's activities in Shenzhen
directly?
Had you paid attention, I'm sure you'd cite where I provided
examples where business and individuals in China are able to
negotiate satifactory compensations, and go to court and sue
for more compensation.
Should I cite the Zhuhai class action case again for you?
I noticed that Charles Liu did not address the issue I raised
in my last post on this thread:
Have Charles Liu and his business interests in Shenzhen
province been involved in land acquisitions there?
I think the newsgroups like this is to discuss issues.
Not collecting personal information.
And yet you asked for the personal background information of the
couple on the audio file. Do you actually have a comment on the
issue of land acquisition in China? Please offer it.
The article offered them up as evidence. They are subjected to
further scrutiny just like witnesses are subjected to cross
examination.
Charles has offered up his own experiences as evidence. Is he not
to be subjected to further scrutiny?
I guess you agree that Charles can be questioned after all.
If Charles is the subject of this thread or the article.
Or offers any opinion on the subject.
But then we are ahead of ourselves. As I had posted, I could not
make out anything they said. I don't think one can attribute the
quality to technology because the rest of the broadcast is of
excellent quality. If you can hear what the couple had said,
please transcribe them and I will try again.
This may come as a shock, but the broadcast was in English for an
English speaking audience. Understanding the Chinese is not
necessary to understanding the issues raised. Do you have any
comment to make on the actual issues raised in the broadcast?
Please read the transcript.
Already did. Why would say I haven't?
The reporter was supposedly giving direct
quotes on words uttered by the Chinese couple. It the Chinese
couple's words were meant not to be heard, why included them in the
audio clip?
It's common to have the original words in the background on radio
and TV interviews. I'm sure you've seen such things on TV before.
Watch the Discovery Channel or some news specials if you have not.
Yes, it's common to have the original Chinese and then the reporter
voices over it. But in all situations, I can still make sense on the
spoken Chinese in the background.
All of them? Every single one? Without exceptions? An amazing talent you
have.
This case is different, I could not
make out any word even when the Chinese speaker was not voiced over.
Not a single one? I'm sure if you tried harder you could pick out at least
one. I heard mei you ban fa at the end.
As is, the journalist was going through the pretense but failing to
deliver anything substantial.
That's only your opinion.
If you or anyone can make out what those Chinese had said, please tell
what he heard.
Irrelevant. The English portion, which I'm know you are capable of reading,
offered substantial information. Would you care to offer a comment on any
of it?
I don't have anything to say on the specific issue before I can make
out what are the complaints of the alleged victims.
The complaints were presented in English. If you would like a copy
of the original interview in Chinese then contact the radio network
and interviewer and request them. If you don't take that simple
action then I will have to question your sincerity.
You may have a point if the clip does not include the supposed
Chinese's original words.
You say it doesn't. At least not any you can hear.
At present, I have no reason to think the
reporter is not doing his best.
You mean besides not presenting the original words adequately, right?
Although he went through the motion
to present original complaints by the Chinese couple, in reality he
did not.
Well there you are then. Stop making excuses. Ask for the entire interview
to be given to you.
Western media have
a bad track record over Chinese issues. Sorry, I can't take their
words as truth. Some might choose to forget the recent story of "eye
popped out of the socket and tongue hung out" story, I don't.
What's so hard for you to believe about land acquisition in China?
Do you think it doesn't really take place?
I am commenting on this particular report.
You can go beyond the original report and offer your views on land
acquisition in China. I don't mind.
Charles doesn't believe that. He's
quite emphatically said it takes place in both China and the US. Do
you think Charles is wrong about land acquisition in China? Why?
Do you have reasons to question his knowledge?
Personally, I don't mind people airing bad things about China and or
CCP. It will be fine if they post 1000 bad things and not one good
thing. Facts are facts. However, repeatedly posting unsubstantiated
and unsubstantiable accusations from unknown unknown sources of
unknown intentions is bashing. Accusations based on rumors also
leave bad tastes. Serious accusation must be matched by serious
effort in fact finding and verification.
You have the names of the people involved and the city where they
live. If you truly want serious efforts of fact finding and
verification to be done then make an effort to do that. That you
won't do such things leads me to question your true motives and
intentions.
You are right if you meant everyone can do his or her own
investigation and not relying on reporters.
Well then off you go. Let's us know the results.
If I ask you to prove that you are not TI or FLG agent, I am
making an unfair request. And of course you could be able to
answer or you might choose not to answer.
More germane to this thread is the sound track that you asked
the readers to hear. I have trouble hear what the supposedly
Chinese couple. (It is not just the voice over.) What is the
problem? Could you of anyone make out what they really said?
