I wonder how people can argue as follows:

1. The Chinese people overwhelmingly support the Chinese Communist Party
but, if they were given the freedom to vote, they would use the freedom
foolishly and elect non-communists.

2. The reason that China's economy is growing so fast is that it is lead
by a Marxist Leninist socialist party. The CCP is entitled to all the
credit.

3. If a capitalist party came into power it would dismantle the socialist
worker's state and we could not allow that.

4. All Chinese should be proud that international capitalists find the
Chinese environmental laws and worker protect laws easy to ignore.

5. Unlike every other people in the world and unlike the Chinese in Hong
Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, the Chinese in the PRC don't want freedom of
speech, freedom of religion, the right to vote and so on and so forth.

The 5th point comes later only for a developed social environment - when everyone is rich and all is prosperous. Who wants freedom of speech and voting rights when you're struggling to earn serious money. At the time being the PRC government is doing quite well in making most people richer by the day.
