BRAMPTON, Ont. (CP) - The father of teenage sisters who drowned their
mother in the family bathtub doesn't want them sentenced as adults.

That today from a Brampton, Ont., courtroom as the defence delivered
its final submissions on sentencing. Lawyer Robert Jagielski says the
father wants to protect the identity of the girls' younger
half-brother. If sentenced as youths, the girls' identity would remain
protected.

If sentenced as adults, their names would likely be revealed.

The girls may learn their fate later today when they appear before the
judge that convicted them.

In convicting them of first-degree murder, Justice Bruce Duncan found
the girls fed their mother booze and Tylenol-3 pills before drawing her
a bath.

They then helped her undress and drowned her, with the older girl
holding her mother's head underwater for at least four minutes.

Afterwards, they met two friends at a restaurant as part of a
pre-arranged alibi before returning home to make a well-rehearsed 911
call.
