PENH, May 29 (Bernama) -- The Information Ministry plans to cooperate
with the Cambodian government in culture, arts and broadcasting.

Its minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said a study would be carried
out on how its broadcasting arm Radio Televison Malaysia (RTM) could
collaborate with the Cambodian Broadcasting Agency to strengthen
bilateral ties.

"We can cooperate with each other by having programmes like the
'Titian Muhibah' (a joint music show broadcast over RTM and TVRI of
Indonesia) to promote the culture of both countries.

"The ministry plans to discuss the matter with the Cambodian
government after the country's general election in July," he told
Bernama and RTM here today.

Ahmad Shabery Ahmad is accompanying Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan
Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah who are on
a six-day state visit to Laos and Cambodia from Monday.

Ahmad Shabery said the idea emanated following a music show held in
conjunction with a state banquet in honour of Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku
Nur Zahirah here last night, which captivated him (Ahmad Shabery).

Singers accompanied by the Cambodian orchestra sang the evergreen
Bahtera Merdeka, Cindai and Mawarku, popularised by Datuk Siti
Nurhaliza. The banquet was hosted by Prince Norodom Sihamoni.

Ahmad Shabery said the performance showed the Cambodian government's
sincerity and readiness to forge closer relationship with Malaysia not
only politically and economically but also culturally.
