The Canadian government pledged $1 million Wednesday to help fund the
upcoming national elections.

The money came at the request of the government for donor support of
the elections, slated for July 2008.

The money would be channeled through the UNDP and go directly to the
National Election Committee, according to a Canadian Embassy
statement.
