As the price of fuel triples in one year, the next generation of
leaders such as those from Funcinpec need to address these issues
along with political strategy to stay in the running. Other parties
look to foreign aid, fighting the battle of corruption and increasing
the posture of arrogance and righteousness. A more innocent approach
is talking about development of alternative energy for Cambodia.
A more practical and inspiring route is working to develop a strategy
to reduce dependency, increase freedom and independence, and enhance
intellectual and financial discipline of the people.
By creating a laboratory of solar energy that will use young minds in
Cambodia, we will create inspiration, stimulate ideas and excite the
human spirit to look for something that is more than the constant
search for national pride that is based on arrogance, intimidation and
sex.
Solar energy is cleaner than fuel that comes from the earth and less
dangerous than fissure of the atoms. Moreover, it's available
everywhere. Just like other industries, it requires transformation,
development, and research. It creates employment as much as it goes to
drives motivation for a job well done. There would be no corruption
involved because it requires sheer work of the mind. Either a person
is trained to think or he or she will not be there working in the lab.
Such an experimentation would need people who are interested in
physics, mathematics, finance, communication and engineering.
Several works are going on in the US, Australia, South Africa and
Israel. By comparing notes with scientists in the US, Australia or
somewhere else, we can come up with more innovative ideas,
collaboration techniques and go about to finance our initiatives with
less hassle or concern.
Building competence, providing interesting work and taking care of the
future requires some disciplined thinking. Where does the money come
from to undertake such an enterprise?
How do people go about to finance several dozens of NGOs in Cambodia
for the time being? All we need is ideas and courage to be a free
nation that is willing to make contribution to a world that is in
needs of help.
Both Thailand and Vietnam had made their intentions known that they
have nuclear energy ambitions. These are statements of alternative
energy as much as of national interest. Moreover, all these things of
the future require knowledge and patient work. It also involves some
lead time. Therefore, the time to start is now. It only takes national
will.
