Malaysian Court Pushes Back Heng Pov Suit

Malaysian court Wednesday adjourned to an undecided date an
application from former Phnom Penh police chief Heng Pov to file suit
against three Malaysian officials for contempt.
The adjournment was to allow the three officials time to properly
respond to the charges levied against them, an official said.
Heng Pov fled Cambodian authorities last year and claims he was
prematurely ejected from Malaysia in December, when he began serving
an 18-year prison sentence in Phnom Penh for the murder of a judge. A
court last week added seven more years for the illegal detention of a
suspect.
Heng Pov was once a member of Prime Minister Hun Sen's inner circle,
and his incarceration has underscored the volatile nature of
Cambodia's security apparatus.
