PR NEWSWIRE
NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Mariane Pearl, journalist and award-
winning documentary film director, has joined Glamour magazine as a
monthly columnist, Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive announced today. Pearl
-- the author of the memoir, A Mighty Heart, about the 2002 kidnapping
and murder of her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl --
will travel the globe for one year, reporting each month on a different
story of interest to women. The column launches in the September issue
of Glamour.

"Mariane is a great writer and a great woman," said Leive. "She's the
perfect person to bring the stories of what women are going through
around the world home to our reader. She's planning to travel
everywhere from Cambodia to Kenya; I can't wait to read her
dispatches."

Pearl leaves this week for Cambodia where she will meet with a former
sex slave who, after escaping, taught herself to read and write in
order to fight the sex-slave industry. Her trip to Kenya will take her
to an all-female village. She also plans to report from Iran,
Guatemala, and China in the coming months.

Pearl's memoir is now available in 18 countries and has won two
international awards; it has been optioned by Brad Pitt, who is
developing the screenplay with Angelina Jolie. Pearl is currently
working on a documentary and has written for publications including The
New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, and The Sunday Times of London.
She lives in Paris with her three year-old son, Adam.
