Acting on a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday, the Ministy of
Foreign Affairs appoints a lawmaker, the quota from the FUNCINPEC party
for a position of Ambassador from the Kingdom of Cambodia to the
Kingdom of Brunei.

This appointment was made after FUNCINPEC party's leader and National
assembly's president Prince Norodom Ranariddh sent a letter on February
7 to Mr. Hun Sen asking him to appoint Mr. Nan Sy, to succeed outgoing
Ambassador Ith Cheth Tola.

King Sihamoni has not issued a royal decree formally appointing the new
ambassador yet.

Royal palace officials say that the request for the changing of
position and the appointment of a new position has reached the royal
palace's office.

Mr. Nan Sy, a candidate for the new ambassador's position welcomes the
idea saying, Prince Ranariddh's decision and Mr. Hun Sen's concensus to
support him make him accept this important position to serve the
country's interest.

He is 43 years old, and is a special missionary of Prince Ranaridh,
FUNCINPEC party's under secretary, and president of special border
issues and immigration affairs of the FUNCINPEC party.
