Although Thai women were known to have played an active role in the
economy especially the sex industry and other fields, they have been
far behind in politics and education. Some educational institutions
are still closed for them, in particular the Military Academy, the
Police Academy and Customs Guards Training School.
Currently, discrimation on the basic of gender is reported still be
practice in higher education. Several state universities, most of
which are prestigious imposed a quota system based on gender in their
admission policies in a number of disciples.
Thai enjoyed peace and prosperity and had never been colonised by any
country nor fought any major war but Thai will fight a terrible and
invisible war in the 21st century which million of the people will
suffer because unequality forced many Thai women to work in sex slave
industry caused the country to be one of the highest HIV/AIDS infection
rates in Asia.
