Heng Reaksmey report (852 KB)

Former King Norodom Sihanouk criticized the government for changing the
names of important buildings which were the former Soviet Union's gifts
to Cambodia.

He wonders if the government will change boulevards such as Norodom,
Charles Degaulle, or Mao Tse-Dong too? He made such comments Thursday
on his web site in French, which VOA translated unofficially saying the
Cambodia-Soviet Friendship Hospital, and the Cambodia-Soviet Friendship
Technical Institute were gifts when he went to visit the Soviet Union
in 1960s, and were changed to Technical Institute of Phnom Penh, and
Sihanouk Hospital.
