A Parasite and A Sponge Speaks

A Parasite and A Sponge Speaks

According to the dictionary, a "Parasite" is someone who clings to a
person of wealth, power, or influence or is useless to society. A
"Sponge" stresses the parasitic laziness, dependence and opportunistic
nature.

While the entire people of Burma had to endure the hardship due to the
rising costs of food and fuel price hike imposed by the SPDC military
regime, a 19-year-old, Parasite and a Sponge, Htet Tay Za, (son of Air
Pagan CEO, Tay Za and son-in-law of Senior General Than Shwe), is
studying at the United World College of South East Asia, an exclusive
and expensive school in Singapore.

[In the email sent to The Irrawaddy on Friday, Htet Tay Za, 19-year-
old son of Air Bagan CEO, Tay Za, wrote: "US bans us? We're still f---
ing cool in Singapore. See my photos? We're sitting on the whole
Burmese GDP. We've got timber, gems and gas to be sold to other
countries like Singapore, China, India and Russia."

He also added that people took to the streets to protest against "a
little fuel price hike", something he considers trivial because he
flies back and forth to Burma once a week.

"My brother is rocking on his red brand new Lamborghini Gallardo with
hot sexy western chicks," he goes on in his email. "Come on with Bagan
(Air Bagan). It is cheaper than others, right? one US $ makes a lot
differences in Burmese currency. And I need another Ferrari to rock
on!" ]

Htet Tay Za is a 19-year-old young college boy. He is not simply
showing off his lavish and carefree life style as a "Parasite and a
Sponge" in Singapore but also showing to the world that the sanctions
imposed on his father, Tay Za and the Burmese generals means nothing
to them.

If a boy like him can show how emboldened and disrespectful he can
become and dare to ridicule the US sanctions and the people's protest
against the government's fuel price and considered the recent
government's fuel price hike as little and trivial, imagine what the
generals of Burma would be thinking.

This explains why a non-binding U.N Security Council resolutions and
narrow-band sanctions will only make the Burmese Military Junta able
to buy time, become emboldened and prepare to counter the resolutions
and sanctions through fake promises and lies so long as the interests
of the countries like Russia, China, India and ASEAN nations like
Singapore are not affected.
