People's Democracy Uprising (or) Chaotic Anarchy Mob?

Former student leader and democracy activist Min Ko Naing was asked
this question by DVB Burmese Radio. His answer was clear and
significant.
"1988 massive People's Democracy Movement took place in Myanmar,
millions of people from various classes, students, peasants, workers,
government servants, police forces, even monks and military personals
marching on the roads in every major cities. They've demanded for
Multi Party System and rejected the one party leadership of Ne Win's
Socialist BSPP Government.
After shaking off a few attempts to crush the people by Gen Sein Lwin
(The Butcher) and Gen Maung Thint (BSPP army representative), BSPP
party chairman Dr. Maung Maung finally agreed to change one party
system to multi party system which is the people's true desire. But
cunningly Dr. Maung Maung refused to form interim government to hold
free and fair election. BSPP didn't have the confident go into free
and fair election without their controul, They wanted to control the
election and changing the multi party system to be the elite of the
next system and still hang on to the power. People immediately
rejected their plan.

Than the military coup leaders who took power from BSPP also
acknowledged and agreed the demands of the people as they realized
those wishes were truly people's wishes. Coupe leaders finish off the
socialist constitution and promised to hold multi party election as
soon as possible to fulfill the peoples desire with respect. Mentioned
that they have no more ties with BSPP party and have no intention of
holding the state power for long-term. That was a lie.

Shocked and dazed by the result of the 1990 election, SPDC is trying
to find ways to break their promise, find ways to neglect the people's
desire, find ways to refuse the election result by telling 1988
uprising was just Chaotic Anarchy Mob. That makes people feel cheated
and disrespected and creates huge divergence with SPDC which will
never patch up. That's why people never forgive them and support them
after all these so call National Convention and so call National
Consolidation they have made. For 18 hard years, still sitting in
square one, everyday broadcasting Army marching songs on TV and
writing propaganda articles in the papers, sending opposition people
to jail for 20 years but without improving a thing. People lost
confident and tamper on SPDC Government.

People are not blaming their Tatmadaw. They know that is only the
concern of SPDC.
Yes, SPDC should have shaken off ties with BSPP first and stop doing
awful things. Better learned how to respect themselves and respect the
People.
