Re: IT'S TIME TO CALL ON OTHERS.

Burma was offered Dominion Status on the same basis as Australia, New
Zealand and Canada. True, there would have been a Governor-General appointed
by The Queen, but they have no political power, which resides with the local
parliaments. In any case, for many years now such Governors-General have all
been Australian, New Zealand and Canadian citizens.

The Commonwealth is no longer the British Commonwealth, and most
Commonwealth countries do not nowadays recognise The Queen as Head of
State. If Burma were to approach her neighbours Srilanka, India,
Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei - all of them 100%
independent States and members of the Commonwealth - and say that they too
would like to join the Commonwealth, who knows what might be achieved! The
Commonwealth Club has rules, and Pakistan is currently in the dog-house
because of its military regime, but things there are changing. They might
change in Burma as well.

I remember once Burma was offered a " DOMINION STATUS " the Freedom and
independent in a straight jacket. The power was in the hands of the British
and it's Governor.
