SPDC Press Conference - April 9, 2006 (Summary & Comments)
NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR - April 10, 2006
Yangon, 9 April - At this press conference today, clarifications will
be made on conspiracies of terrorist groups such as NCUB, NCGUB, KNU,
FTUB, ABSDF, NLD(LA), NDD, DPNS,SSA-S,VBSW (Vigorous Burmese Student
Warriors) etc to blast bombs to undermine the stability of the State
and harming lives and property of the people.
According to tip-offs in December 2005, we learnt that expatriate Sein
Win of NCGUB and expatriate axe-handle Aung Lin Htut who were taking
refuge in USA and ABSDF military advisor Aye Myint who was in Australia
directed the sabtoage groups. (Note : Aung Lin Htut was the acting SPDC
Ambassador in Washington DC until April 1,2005 and a major in military
intelligence. Early in his career Aung Lin Htut was trained at the CIA
headquarters in Washington DC. Several Burma Army officers received
training at the CIA Headquarters when Brigadier Tin Oo headed military
intelligence. Brigadier Tin Oo was a favorite of the American CIA.)
According to further information received, it was revealed that the
terrorist groups led by expatriate Sein Win of NCGUB were conspiring to
launch media attack against the Government. It was also learnt that
they had planned to blast bombs in Yangon, Mandalay and Pyinmana cities
by joining hands with ABSDF and KNU whose members have expertise in
exploding bombs. Their motive was to frighten the people and cause the
Government to lose people's confidence.
According to the information received in the second week of January
2006, it was revealed that on 11-1-2006 morning a closing ceremony of
training course on politics and UG tactics was held at Daungkhwin camp
at the border. The course was conducted from 2 to 11 January and was
attended by 151 including seven persons from VBSW. Among the trainees,
38 were platoon commanders of ABSDF,DPNS,NDD,KNU and NLD (LA).
(Note : SPDC is concerned about the UG training course attended by 151
Freedom Fighters. They suspect there is increased CIA involvement in
covert activities in Burma. The New York Times (April 14,2006) in a
feature article stated that "Young Nepalese Lead their Nation's Push
for Democracy" with street demonstrations. We can expect the same in
Burma.)
