1. "Tha nga-that auk-myit" would be "Thint," and "tha nga-that witsa-pauk"
would be "Thin," whereas "ta-wan-pu nga-that auk-myit" would be "Tint," and
"ta-wan-pu nga-that-witsa-pauk" would be "Tin."

ta-wan-pu = T (U Sein TIN => Theikpan Maung Wa)
hta-sin-hto = Ht (Maung HTIN <= U Htin Fatt)
tha = Th (U THAUNG => Aung Bala)

2. Zomis do not have the "tha" sound. Therefore, they tend to pronounce "U
Thaung" as "U Taung."

3. Witsapauk/Shaykapauk/Shaysi: When I was in my Kindergarten class, my
Karen lady teacher taught us to pronounce it "shay-ka-pauk." Some tecahers
pronounced it "shay-ka-hna-lone-pauk." When I was in my Sixth Standard
class, my Zomi male teacher taught us to pronounce it "Wit-sa-pauk." Some
teachers pronounced it "wit-sa-hna-lone-pauk." Sometime later, I heard it
pronounced "shay-si."

I think you are correct. If I am not mistaken, "tha nga-that auk-myit"
would come out to be "Tint," and "tha nga-that witsa-pauk" would be
Tin. "witsa-pauk" looks like this ":" doesn't it? I am not absolutely
too sure but I think it might also be called "shay-si" in parts of
Burma.

have the "th" (tha) sound. We have only the "t" (ta-wan-pu) sound.
Therefore, her middle name should be spelled Tin (as in our Zomi
spelling),

When I looked over her name on the Internet and on one or two CDs I have, I
found out that the spelling of her middle name in Burmese is "tha nga-that
witsa-pauk", not "tha nga-that auk-myit".


2. When I talked with two or three friends here, they agreed with you that
Sone Thin Par sounds better.


3. I never had the opportunity to read that novel. I would love to read it.
I did not have the chance to watch the movie, either. I read only the
reviews of the movie.
