Nai Yekha, who was sentenced for life by regime after he was arrested
with accusation of trying to assassinate SPDC's military leaders, has
been in unhealthy condition and he has been barred to get foods from
his family and medical care.

"Now he was allowed only a half amount of food and medicine of the
previous months. For instance, in the previous month his family can
sent him 30 packs of coffee (a pack for a cup) per two week. But now
only 15 packs were allowed," a New Mon State Party (NMSP) leader
said.

New restriction began in the mid-August and he was the person who is
suffering stomach pains all the time. He was also barred to have
treatment in the outside hospital.

Nai Yekha was a leader of NMSP and he was arrested on July 17, 2003
with other eight people including another NMSP member Nai Myo Thwe and
Mon people living in Pegu.

Accordingly to his wife, Nai Yekha was faint in last August due to lack
of best foods he received and he was lost consciousness about two hours
in toilet.

In order to get more nutrition, his family planned to send more foods .
But his family was denied to do so, said his wife.

Nai Yekha family was allowed to meet him twice per month and ICRC has
been helping them to meet him. NMSP has been accepting him as NMSP
member and has been trying for his release, according to NMSP leader.

Other 3 Mon people who was arrested with him, Nai Than Tun, Nai Shew
Marn (Youth leader in Pegu) and Nai Min Kyi a leader of Mon National
Democratic Front leader (Pegu) were released. They were arrested with
SPDC's accusation of contacting to ILO and providing mis-information
on the use of forced labour.

During the arrest of the whole group led by Nai Yekha, all of them were
sentenced to death. Military government also made a press conference
for the Nai Yekha case and reasons of arrest.

According to the released prisoners, they said they were not culprits
of assassination of SPDC leaders and explosions in Rangoon, but the
accusation against them were totally made-up. All of the weapon,
explosives and ammunitions shown in the conference were arranged by
military intelligence of SPDC.
