After the Mon State's Township Court found that the Chainman of Mon
Literature and Culture Committee in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mr.Nai Sein
Aye, was innocent, he was released yesterday's night.

"He never involved any activity against any law. That was why the
judges fair decided on his case and then released him unconditionally.
The court informed him that to take a rest and stay quietly for 6
months," said Nai Sein Aye family.

Nai Sein Aye, 55 years old was arrested on July 8, after local military
commander, Col. Khin Maung Zee, from No. 4 Military Training School,
met him and then detained him in Thanpyuzayat prison for over
one-month. Commander accused him as an activist who planned for an
uprising against the regime, SPDC.

The military commander Col. Khin Maung Zee had tried many times to
complete Nai Sein Aye's case in Thanbyuzayat Township's court to
trial and imprison him with his unfair accusation. He forced judges to
sentence Nai Sein Aye with a punishment of creating unrest among the
civilians against the government.

But the Township judge, Daw Win Win Htay had rejected for three times
to involve in deciding unfairly against Nai Sein Aye. She furthermore
reported to upper authorities for a retirement from her duties after
intensive pressure.

So that Nai Sein Aye case was brought from Township Court to Mon State
Court. And on July 22, Mon State Court in the capital Mon State decided
he was innocent and not to put his cases on trial. Then he was
released unconditionally at the end.

Nai Sein Aye was very active in community activities and had applied to
local military authorities to register his committee as an official
organization in mid-2004.

However, his committee was denied registration by town authorities May
4, and he and his members were forced to sign an agreement not to be
involved in any activities by Thanpyuzayat Town Peace and Development
Council secretary U Pyi Aung Moe.

He and his committee were also warned that if they organized a meeting
or formed a group and collected money, they would be arrested and
detained under law act no. 5A (forming an illegal organization) and get
5-7 years in prison with hard labor.

The Nai Sein Aye-led MLCC has been working for community development,
opening the Summer Mon Literacy Training School and being nvolved in
religious activities.

However, the activities of Mon Literature and Culture Committee
especially maintaining Mon literacy and culture has been restricted
after his arrest.
