Burma's Anti-dictatorship People's Freedom Movement calls for the
people to rise against Burma's junta generals.
Washington DC, 21 August, (Asiantribune.com): An appeal has been put
forward for the people of Burma to grasp the rarest life opportunity to
rise up against the Burma's military rulers in order and unison like
they did in 1988, while the junta generals were involved in purging,
plotting against each other and
clearing the ranks and file of the army.
While appealing to the people rise against the Army rulers,
Anti-dictatorship People's Freedom Movement in United States of
America has cordially invited all freedom loving people to participate
today in their 175th week of political defiance, a weekly demonstration
in front of the residence of the Burma junta's military
representative located in the Washington DC.
"This week" according to the organizers of the demonstration,
"we would like to pinpoint the fact that it is time for the
people to say in unison that 'we no longer want Than Shwe and
his thieving regime anymore in our country' and act accordingly and
with determination also, unlike the United Nations
statements backed by nothing other than 'air."
The invitation letter by the organizers undelined that there is
no question about the role of the NLD and Aung San Suu Kyi
playing in the democratic process of Burma and they further
added that Than Shwe has kept them at bay by putting Aung San
Suu Kyi out of sight and incommunicado and her people behind
bars.
The Planning Committee of the Anti-dictatorship People's
Freedom Movement pointed out that now it is high time for the people of
Burma to say or act in consensus, decidedly and determinedly also, that
they have had enough of Than Shwe's bullying and gimmicks for
Burma's democracy. There is no qualm over Than Shwe's insincerity
or unwillingness in the democratic process of Burma, other than his
desire to establish himself
in the country, the Committee said.
Given the facts, the people have to confront Than Shwe and his regime
squarely now and convey their message-make way for Aung
San Suu Kyi and the NLD for their future and posterity-as they have
all the right and no alternative also, the organizers of
the weekly protest demonstration said.
The organizers clarified, "Until and unless the people call
Than Shwe's bluff the military mutt will not budge an inch and remain
entrenched like today. While he is occupied with his
'clan cleansing' (purging and killing whole sale in his army)
the people must take this opportunity of a life time possibly,
and rise up, in order and unison also, against the military
rulers like they did in 1988.
With this view we will protest against the Rangoon regime also, and
demand to make way for the NLD to carry out its entrusted task -
convene a people's parliament and establish a long
overdue democratic ruling body in Burma.
