don't trust your bank

The BBC tonight screened an extremely disturbing documentary featuring
an undercover reporter working at Barclays bank.
The reporter witnessed cheating and mis-selling on a scale and to a
degree that could only be disguised as organized fraud.
As bank upon bank reveals record profits of an obscene level after
this they can surely no longer argue this is honest earnings.
Examples revealed include an elderly couple switched to a charge
bearinga ccount without their knowledge. A penioner refused a loan of
a few hundred pounds who was encouraged to take out household
insurance. A couple who had £280,000 swtched from savings to their
current acount without their knowledge to generate sales commission.
The program also revealed the charges for bounced cheques bear no
relation to the actual costs for administration.
Banks used to be considered pillars of the community. They are now no
more than large scale racketeers.
My advice, treat anything banks say with extreme caution and don't
touch their "sales" people with a 100ft barge pole.
