One thing that I could not help observing during my recent trip to Russia
is that despite Russia's authoritarianism and bullying of its neighbors,
it is as politically anti-communist and economically neo-liberalist a
state as any of the Baltics.

O sancta simplicitas! It is nothing of the sort. You could plunge
the brothel back into Stalinism tomorrow and very few would complain,
as long as the re-Stalinisation included territorial conquests and a
chance to be the swaggering bully once again.
