I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Eurovision song contest
is turning into a useless piece of crap by letting everyone sing in
English. They should revise the rules and make everybody sing in the
official language (or one of the official languages if they have more
than one) of their country or else scrap the whole sorry charade which
is starting to look like it could have been happening in Yankeeland.
English has become such a global Lingua Franca that the few countries
allowed to sing in English would then have an advantage. A compromise
would be to require the participants to have a mandatory native language
song *and* allow them to have a additional song in another language
(English) if they like to (most will). That would probably require the
contest to reduce the number of participants, but so what.

Hmmm... how could I forget to include my main point? The votes for both
songs would be counted (if more than one) and an average calculated for
each participant like this: "total votes for all their songs / number of
songs they are participating with = average".

In UK, this contest is commonly perceived as a joke.  But concerning
your proposition - would Brits have to include a song in one of Celtic
languages?

Well it IS a joke indeed :-) But celtic song would be nice.
