Putin-Jugend in Helsinki
The Russian government-supported youth
movement, Nashi, plans to hold demonstrations
in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, on 23 March 2009
against a seminar organised by the Estonian
Embassy in Helsinki.
The pathetically timid 'demonstration' was held in the main building of
Helsingin Sanomat (biggest daily in Scandinavia). It was organized by
Johan Bäckman, the Kremlin's notorious Finnish *agent provocateur*. He
had managed to bring along 20-25 'Nasis' from St. Petersburg, few of whom
were less than 45 years old. So much for 'Jugend'.
Well, the Komsomol visiting delegation members used to be 60+ yr old in
the old days, so 45+ are actually youngsters.
Most news sources reported 14 Putinjugend members having arrived on a
ferry from Tallinn some of them having Estonian citizenship and boasting
at their press conference that as EU citizens the Finnish government is
going to be ridiculed if it harasses or try to stop EU citizens from
demonstrating. The same sources then reported as the number of
demonstrators having been 14 including herr docent Bäckman, the Finnish
partner having invited them, so apparently one "delegate" got cold feet.
Even Swedish TV ridiculed the magnificent demonstration in their main
evening news broadcast. Now Putinjugend can boast back home that they
"shook the whole of Scandinavia" with their action.
Actually I'm again starting to feel sorry for the ordinary Russians. I
have a couple of russian colleagues at work, who have come here only
because of their profession for a few years. They said that now it's again
time to be careful when speaking aloud in public places not to be taken as
putinjugend.
All news about Russia nowdays is negative or ridiculisation. This has
surprising affects: a few days ago I heard Finnish todlers in the
playground shouting "ryssä" (a very negative word here and was forbidden
right after the war) to each other instead of the usual homo's or huora's
(whore) without having the faintest clue to what the words really mean.
what does it mean? a racial slur of some sort?
