Yes, some people are still nostalgic for the Ullmanis dictatorship.

Ulmanis's regime came to place in 1934, there were still 14 years of
democracy.


 and restored independence in 1991.  Joining EU was
the consequence of the second one.

Didn't Latvia's joining EU allow you, Dmitry, to live in the same
country as Latvia?

EU is not a country. Long ago Latvian and UK governments agreed on
visa free entry. The only difference before joining EU was an image
of little airplane stamped in the passport.
