I didnt initially consider US Sec of State Rice's commentary about
"cold war discussions" to be in response to Adamkaus interview
comments. Adamkus, as President of Lithuania, is free to make whatever
comment he wishes to make regarding Lithuanias relationship with other
nations. He's free to characterize them as he sees fit.
This speech by President Adamkus strikes me as an effort to counter
C.Rice's position. I dont disagree with her at all - I think Adamkus
is absolutely correct.
Entering into points of argument with the dregs of Bush's foreign
policy misadventures serves no purpose. Rice is as relevant as
Gorbachev at this point. Theyre relics. Bush will never admit to
misunderstanding Putin and Rice will always have a friendly
perspective visavis Russia.
