Clever governments would do their utmost
to try to provid as much locally produced TV material as possible -
without letting standards drop. By that I mean it's a waste of time
funding crap that is supposed to be a Baltic imitation of some Yankee
TV show, mimicking the foreign mindset and foreign images, and trying
to pretend that the Baltics can really be some sort of imitation
Yankeeland if you want it to.
I mean, for example, rap music in Baltic languages - how stupid and
pointless is that?
Not sure whether it is stupid or pointless, rap is now all over
Europe. I've heard rap in German (friend of mine is German rap
artiste), French, Latvian, Lithuanian, Latgalian, Polish (my next door
neighbours playing it loud from time to time), may be more - I can't
remember. This is the way it is; people absorb an art form and make
it their own.
That's their choice. But I am talking about Government funding. And
I sure as hell would be annoyed at a Lithuanian government that wasted
taxpayers' money producing programs abut rap music.
