Give up, dub. The rouble is never going to be a serious currency
while that bardak is run by mofiosi and kagebisti. Which will be all
of this century, at least.

The Russians are in the process of learning that they can have far more
clout in the world with conservative economics and a sound currency than
they will by having Nashisti screaming and demanding regime change in
countries that Russia takes umbrage at. Owning the energy spigots as
well as, initially, what comes out of them doesn't hurt, either. The
Russian Central Bank is currently taking in some $330,000,000 a day in
energy revenues. Nobody is going to kill such a fat milch cow.

What the Russians have learned in the past sixteen years is that you
don't have to lie, cheat, kick ass, and be obnoxious to gain prosperity
and respect. At one time Russia wanted nothing more than to emulate the
United States. Now, sounder heads prevail, and even the *prostoy narod*
sees that the United States is seriously in precipitous decline.
