Let me repeat - it is long. Secondly it
is written from an American perspective
so I would expect a great deal of frothing
from the assorted russkies (all hanging onto
the US economic teat) as well as sputtering
by the many fashionably anti-American
Eurosocialistas. Finally - I must confess
that I have not yet finished reading it. I

interesting. If nothing else it will permit
the above mentioned dorks to vent -

End of Dreams, Return of History
By Robert Kagan
The world has become normal again. The years immediately
following the end of the Cold War offered a tantalizing glimpse
at a new kind of international order, with nations growing
together or disappearing altogether, ideological conflicts melting
away, cultures intermingling through increasingly free commerce
and communications. But that was a mirage.....

This thing seems quite long indeed. Can you summarize his answer to
the most important immediate question that all Americans ask: Should
USA abandon Iraq this September or should we take more punishment and
run away next Spring?
And the 4 most important questions to me:
1. With all the deficit spending and borrowing of $trillions from
China, should I sell my house and all US stocks immediately or is the
crash coming a bit later? And what should I convert my savings into?
Euros? Rubles? Yens? Should I invest in FX options?
2. The volunteer system is not working. It worked in the previous era
when USA was a normal country. But now that the neocons like Mr. Kagan
have come to power, we are invading at least 2 or 3 countries at a
time, and nobody wants to volunteer to die. My son is 9. What is it
going to be like in 9 years? How many countries shall we be invading
at that tiime? 3? 4? 5? 10? Will we be able to staff and stuff our
army with foreign volunteers/conscripts or shall USA have a mandatory
draft? If so - may I move my son to Canada?
3. When will Bin Laden explode his first nuclear bomb and where? On
the East Coast or the West Coast?
4. Have neocons considered undergoing the neutering process as an
alternative to their foreign policy? If not - how about prozac and
heavy sedatives?
Thanks. .
