*WARNING*

I googled for the "Free Europe
Foundation" and could not find it.
Then I used their link (can be seen in
their article - not here) and my computer
froze up. You might want to avoid it.

""Latvia. Under the Nazi Yoke"" collected
articles published in English

""Latvia. Under the Nazi Yoke"" collected articles published
in autumn 2006 by Europe Publishers have come out in English
in the Internet. It can be found on the Free Europe
Foundation web-site. As REGNUM was told at the publishing
house, documents from Russian state and departmental archives
(State Archives of the Russian Federation, Russian State Military
Archives, Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation
Central Archives, Russian State Social and Political Historical
Archives, Defense Ministry Central Archives) were first
published in the book.

The foreword to the book says that ""the situation here differs
from that in Russia and other European countries, where separate
marginal groups and nation-concerned activists from time to
time try to exploit Fascist ideology. In Latvia Nazi spirit is
systematically and quite effectively cultivated by powerful
political figures, openly or indirectly supported by the ruling
circles."" Russian archivists published overall 58 documents.
It is much or few? Each of them contains facts of atrocities
committed by Fascist occupants in the Latvian territory,
description of local residents'' executions, including massacre
of children in Salaspils camp and children and Jews in the
Riga ghetto, facts about scale of Aizsargs voluntary participation,
about what the Arays unit was really doing and whether the
Waffen SS legionaries were so sinless. All this can be read in the
collected archival articles the White Book about Latvia in the
period of Fascist occupation.

Thanks, Henry.

An amazing compote of carefully selected documents and refried lies,
horribly translated into English. It even includes the obligatory
attack on the caption in the book I was one of the translators of
(Karlamov's entreé)...

It froze my Firefox, too, but if you _right click_ and "save link as,"
it works --

One wonders who they are aiming for...
