Re: How *not* to behave in Riga

Where have I stated that I don't care?

Your posting topics dont support an argument that could draw one to
conclude that its an issue important to you.

If you cared - then one would think that you'd address it, no ?

I suspect (though I didn't ask) that I have met any number
of "illegals" though they spoke something other than
Lithuanian.

If youre referring to Mexican illegals then yes - theres alot of them
in Colorado as your state economy couldnt likely survive without them.
Colorado as word origin sure aint anglo saxon.

I suspect that there are many MANY more illegal resident Lithuanians
living in the western suburbs of Chicago than Denver or Colorado as a
whole. Their plight is real to us here Henry.

Hmm - that is a new term for me - "tarybukai". Might I ask
in what sorts of conversations you use it?

Its not a term I use in conversation very often as its generally seen
as derogatory. The antrabangiai were commonly referred to as dipukai -
a term I expect youve heard. Tarybukai has a comparable pedigree
except that it refers to the treciabangiai.

As to my "not caring"
about this or that. Please!

I look through your posts Henry and I see alot more attention paid to
all things rooskie. Sorry, but I dont see much commentary from you at
all regarding the emigration issue. You consistently dismiss it.

I can tell you this, however, running in tight circles while
shouting: "bad, bad, bad - if not worse" helps no one in
any way. Whether you like it or not things *are* getting
better. Unemployment is down and wages are up. Are
things where they should be? No. I do not see, however,
that adding to the mental depression is of any help.

So, youre best able to solve problems by not focusing on them ? Is
that your strategy ? If thats the case Henry - I expect the Kremlin
and Regnum, etc would certainly benefit by you finding a new hobby.

Sigh....Henry....Unemployment is down because 10% of the available
worked force packed up and left over the last 10 years - and more
continue to leave. Were some of the people who left to get jobs in
Europe unemployed ? YES - That was entirely the point ! Why else do
you think they left for the UK,etc in droves ? For the food ??

Lots of countries found ways to exclude the soccer hoodlums.
They did it by simple (ooh - that nasty term) profiling. If you
see some ten half-drunk limeys, in their twenties or thirties,
arriving in Riga - you know what they are about.

Ah... So the peace needs to be enforced by an active and aggressive
law enforcement unit... Lovely.

Oh wait. What about the tourist industry that would certainly
decline ? The fall of hard currency being spent in the bars/
restaurants. The clear conflict that exists between commerce and
public safety where the attitude today is that a few pissing Brits are
a small inconvenience. How about the consideration that free market
truly means free market without regulation or intrusion. That bars are
ok to sell alcohol until people literally fall over dead - and if you
try and stop them they'll just buy off your boss and get you
transferred off to some dark corner.

The Baltics dont want to turn hooligans away Henry - they want them to
bring their friends !

Whats it gonna take to turn this around with you ? An article in Asia
Times ?

Eh? If I hated Europe so much then I would not look for
methods to make it better - at least certain parts of it.

And having a negative view of the EU - like you have - is positive and
will make things better ? Look at what you've suggested already -
close the borders to limeys that look like they might drink ? To spend
gobs of tax dollars so the police can sift out drinkers as they fly
in ? Thats simply goofy. Its completely unrealistic.

Interesting. So shut your eyes real tight and plug your
ears and you might not hear the progressively louder
growling emanating in the Kremlin. Perhaps you should
get more interested in these matters.

The attitude of the Putin government is a problem and I doubt anyone
would venture otherwise - but its not THE problem Henry. You
concentrate on the Kremlin cause you dont want to face the real
problems. I come to that conclusion because you rarely post about
anything else other than rooskies and decry those who make sense about
what the problems in Lithuania truly are - ie Donskis.
